The Docks. ⛵

Where the city skyline reflects on the water. From sailing lessons to beer gardens, the Esplanade is Boston's backyard.

🌅

Golden Hour

The Wooden Docks

"Walk past the Hatch Shell towards the river. You’ll find a series of wooden docks floating on the water. Sit here at 7 PM. Watching the sailboats drift by as the Cambridge skyline turns gold is peak romance."

The View

River Gazing.

It’s simple, free, and stunning. Bring a blanket (it gets breezy) and just watch the water.

Photo Tip

The best angle is looking west towards the Citgo Sign and the BU Bridge.

Set Sail

Community Boating. 🛶

Boston is one of the few cities where you can learn to sail for a reasonable price. Rent a double kayak and paddle under the Longfellow Bridge.

The "Test"

They say if you can kayak together in a tandem kayak without fighting, you should get married.

* Note: Wear clothes you don't mind getting splashed.

Sunset Sail

"For a more relaxed vibe, book a sunset sail where someone else does the work. You just sit back and enjoy the breeze."

Night Shift Brewing

The Beer Garden

"A pop-up beer garden right on the riverbank. String lights, picnic tables, and local craft beer. It’s dog-friendly, casual, and incredibly popular on warm evenings."

Refreshment

The Owl's Nest.

There is something magical about drinking a cold IPA while watching joggers run by and boats drift down the river.

Movies & Music. 🎻

The Arthur Fiedler Hatch Shell is iconic. In the summer, it hosts "Free Friday Flicks" (movies under the stars) and orchestral concerts.

July 4th

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular happens here. If you want a spot, you have to get here at dawn. It is the most patriotic date you will ever go on.

📽️

Friday Flicks

"Pack a picnic basket. Arrive at 6 PM to get a good patch of grass. Watching a classic movie as the sun goes down behind the screen is a summer essential."
